4 festival o pravima djece dođite zajedno! children s rights festival come together! uvodno introduction Osmu godinu zaredom Festival o pravima djece slavi stvaralaštvo, filmsku umjetnost, pisanu riječ, dječja prava ponajviše pravo na izražavanje, sudjelovanje, dostupnost svih kulturnih sadržaja svima, zajedništvo i jednakost. Najviše od svega osluškujemo, nastojimo čuti glas djeteta i onoga koji govori o djetetu i njegovim pravima, trudimo se prenijeti, razumjeti, naučiti i zabaviti se. Zajedno. Iz godine u godinu, programskih aktivnosti je sve više; gradova u kojima se odvijaju programi ove godine je osamnaest, a u Zagrebu će se programi odvijati u kinu Cinestar Avenue Mall, kinu Tuškanac i u Muzeju suvremene umjetnosti. Školske projekcije matineje su 12 filmova iz stvaralaštva djece osnovnoškolske i 16 filmova mladih srednjoškolske dobi. The Children s Rights Festival is in its eighth year. This is a festival that celebrates creativity, film art, writing and children s rights in particular the right to self-expression, participation and availability of all cultural content to everyone, as well as concepts of community and equality. Our main goal is to listen and try to hear children s voices as well as voices of those who talk about children and their rights. We strive to convey, understand, learn new things and have fun. Together. The number of programme activities has been increasing during these years. Programme activities will be held in eighteen cities this year. Our audiences are also increasing. We use the plural form because we want this to encompass everybody individuals, families, groups, people of all ages. U okviru debate nakon projekcije dugometražnog igranog filma Uvijek svoja francuske redateljice Emilie Deleuze, srednjoškolci će sa stručnjacima moći razmijeniti svoje doživljaje viđenoga zasigurno kompleksnoga ali punog različitih izazova življenja njihovih vršnjaka, dok će debatne projekcije filmskog programa Sedmi kontinent uvesti osnovnoškolce u aktivno i angažirano promišljanje filmske umjetnosti i sadržaja tematiziranih u filmu, kroz razgovor s filmskim umjetnicima i nastavnicima medijske kulture. Na drugoj platformi očekujemo zajedničke dolaske cijelih obitelji, djece s najbližim odraslima iz svoga okruženja. Filmske projekcije programa Dobre vibracije u kinu Cinestar Avenue Mall i radionice u kinu Tuškanac otvorene su za sve za djecu, mlade i odrasle koji individualno odlučuju doći u kino, na filmsku projekciju ili sudjelovati na nekoj od radionica. Radionice su namijenjene najmlađima predškolske i rane školske dobi, tinejdžerima i njihovim roditeljima, a filmovi nešto starijima. Dva od tri filma Dobrih vibracija hrvatske su premijere. Pozivamo vas sve, bit će nam drago vidjeti vas u velikom broju, zajedno velike i male, roditelje i djecu, u poticajnome slobodnom vremenu ispred velikih ekrana. Slijepi zajedno s videćima, gluhi s čujućima, u istoj dvorani. Jedan brazilski film posebno smo rezervirali za odraslu publiku Film je to o počecima ljudskog življenja, rođenju i prvim mjesecima i godini života, te o utjecaju okolnosti i odnosa prvih trenutaka na Zemlji na kognitivni, intelektualni, a posebno emocionalni i psihološki razvoj djeteta te kasnije odrasle ličnosti. Snažan, impresivan, dinamičan i dojmljiv film iz kojega se uči, ali će nas i dirnuti. Ovaj dugometražni dokumentarni film mali je dragulj za zahtjevnu publiku, ljubitelje odličnoga filma. The workshops are aimed at small children of preschool and early school age, teens and their parents, and the films are aimed at slightly older group. Two of the three films in the Good vibrations programme were not screened in Croatia before. We invite the old and the young ones, parents and children, to spend some positive leisure time in front of the screen. This festival will gather the blind and the seeing ones, deaf and the hearing ones, all at the same venue. We have planned one premiere in particular for an adult audience. This is a film from Brazil about the beginnings of human life. 5

Zahvaljujući ponosnom pokrovitelju Festivala, dm u, nastojat ćemo kroz filmske i edukativne programe dostupne svima te kroz organiziranu podršku drugim organizacijama i udrugama u prilagodbi sadržaja osjetljivim i izoliranim skupinama, i nakon Festivala, tijekom cijele godine, podsjećati na dragocjenu vrijednost i ljepotu inkluzivnog življenja, ne gubeći s uma da netko negdje treba aktivno društvo koje zna držati oči otvorenima ali i da vidi i čuje srcem. Taj netko su najčešće djeca. Za početak, dođimo i budimo zajedno. Prepustimo se filmu i umjetnosti, naučit ćemo o sličnome i različitome, a ponajviše o sebi. I zabavimo se! It deals with birth, first months and years of life, and how circumstances and relationships present during the first moments on Earth influence the cognitive, intellectual as well as the emotional and psychological development of the child and later adult personality. We will learn a lot from this strong, impressive, dynamic and striking film but you will also find it touching. Step by step, the week of the child in October turned into the month of a child. We would not mind if it turns into a year, and we can spend long periods of time together through watching movies and participating in creative workshops. These activities would include both parents and children, young seeing people and their visually or hearing impaired friends, in cinemas and at cultural venues that offer programmes equally accessible to everyone, free and adapted to children and adults with disabilities. In partnership with dm, the new proud sponsor of the Children s Rights Festival, we aim to keep in mind the great value and beauty of inclusive living after the Festival and throughout the year. This will be achieved through film screenings and education programmes available to everyone, as well as through organized support to other organizations and associations in adapting material to sensitive or isolated groups. It is important to know that someone somewhere needs an active society that knows how to keep one s eyes open but also to see and hear with one s heart. This someone is most often a child. Let s all come together for a start. Let s surrender ourselves to film and art, and learn about the similar and the different, but mostly about ourselves. Let s have some fun! Posljednjih se godina sve više bavimo odnosom djece i roditelja koji vidimo kao jedan od ključnih stupova stabilnosti svake osobe, ali i cjelokupnog društva. Stoga smatramo da društvo treba tom odnosu dati šansu i podršku kroz slobodno vrijeme koje roditelji mogu provesti s djecom te kroz sadržaje i usluge koji će taj odnos poduprijeti i obogatiti. Kroz Festival želimo podržati dobre odnose roditelja i djece, na pristupačan i inkluzivan način, osigu ravajući im prostor i vrijeme za zajedništvo, učenje i zabavu. Životna svakodnevnica i suvremen način života često ne ostavljaju ni prostor ni vrijeme za građenje dobrog odnosa između djece i roditelja. U svijetu u kojem nam u svakom trenutku nešto skreće pažnju, lako se izgubi fokus na ono do čega nam je stalo a to su naša djeca i usklađivanje roditeljskih i dječjih potreba, koje su često na suprotnim stranama. Brojna istraživanja upozoravaju nas na moguće posljedice loših odnosa u obitelji koje je vrlo teško kasnije popraviti. Od nemogućnosti stvaranja kvalitetnih odnosa do povećanih stopa kaznenih djela, loši obiteljski odnosi od najranije dobi uvelike će utjecati na zadovoljstvo i sreću svake osobe, a onda i društva u cjelini. Istovremeno, longitudinalna nam istraživanja govore koliko dobri odnosi, osobito u obitelji, pozitivno utječu na kvalitetu života kako djece, tako i odraslih osoba. Nadamo se da ćemo afirmacijom ove teme rasti zajedno s generacijama djece i njihovih roditelja, ali i da ćemo zajedno s njima voditi društvo prema ispunjavanju obećanja danih djeci kroz Konvenciju o pravima djeteta. Last couple of years we have been looking into the relationship between parents and children. We see this particular relationship as one of the key pillars of stability and happiness for every human being and for the society. We firmly believe that the society should do all it can do, to give this relationship fighting chance and support, primarily by ensuring that parents are more available to their children but also providing both parents and children with services that will support and enrich this special relationship that every parent has with its child or children. Festival is committed to supporting that relationship, by being accessible and inclusive, but also fun and educational. Contemporary living and daily struggles do not leave enough time nor place for building a good relationship between children and their parents. In a world where all the time something is competing for our attention, one can easily lose focus on what we really care about. And that is our children and balancing the needs of parents and children that very often end up on opposite sides. Studies on adverse childhood experiences gave us a clear warning about the impact of poor relationships within the family that is costly and complex to overcome later in life. From inability to create stable relationships with peers to criminal offences, poor family interactions in the early years will affect the success and overall feeling of happiness of every person, which is later reflected on the whole society. At the same time, longitudinal studies have shed the light to the positive impact of good interactions and 7

Stoga pozivamo sve dođite zajedno na projekcije, radionice i sve drugo što pripremamo kako biste podržali dobre odnose između djece i roditelja različite dobi, različitih razmišljanja, želja i potreba. Festivalski tim relationships in the family to the quality of life which is valid for both, children and adults. We hope that by digging deeper in this topic we will grow, together with the generations of children and their parents, and that we will facilitate the change that all leaders promised to children by signing and ratifying the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Nesigurnost postaje glasnija, prijatelji glavno mjerilo vrijednosti, odluke krhkije, a njihove posljedice kao da jače udaraju. Oni najbliži u nekim se trenucima čine najudaljenijima. Kako to izgleda u obitelji u kojoj mama i tata, potrošenih živaca i umorni od stresnog života, s brige otpuštaju najstariju kćer, dragocjeno strpljenje ulažu u najmlađu kćer (koja najviše obećava), a onoj koja se našla u sredini (i baš je u pubertetu) u najboljem slučaju posvećuju osrednju razinu pažnje? Uz uvjet da bude onakva kakvu oni očekuju normalna. Kako se mladi nose s izazovima odrastanja u što vjeruju, što im je najvažnije, što ih brine i kakva im je podrška najpotrebnija? Što im je potrebno od roditelja, a što od učitelja? Kako bismo čuli kako razmišljaju učenice i učenici srednjih škola, i treću godinu zaredom organizirali smo filmsku projekciju uz panel-raspravu sa stručnjacima. Kao uvod u raspravu bit će prikazana francuska srednjoškolska drama Uvijek svoja, koja je ove godine osvojila prestižnu nagradu Young Audience Award Europske filmske akademije, i za koju su glasali gledatelji stari između 12 i 14 godina u 29 gradova, uključujući Zagreb. Film je nagrađen i na ovogodišnjem Međunarodnom filmskom festivalu u Berlinu. When puberty enters a child s room, the world turns upside down. Voices of uncertainty become louder, friends are the ones setting standards, decisions are fragile and the consequences seem to hit harder. The ones closest to us sometimes seem to be farthest away. What is this like in a family where mum and dad have no more patience left and tired from a stressful life, stop worrying about their eldest daughter, put all their precious efforts into their youngest (the promising one), while the one in the middle (who is going through puberty) can only hope for a medium level of attention? Provided she is exactly what they expect her to be normal. How do young people deal with the challenges of growing up what do they believe in, what is most important to them, what worries them? What do they need from parents and from their teachers? To learn more about the views of high-school students, for the third year we are organizing film screenings and panel discussions with experts. The French high-school drama Miss Impossible will be screened as an introduction to the panel. It won the prestigious Young Audience Award of the European Film Academy this year and got votes from viewers aged between 12 and 14 from 29 cities including Zagreb. Ovisi o tome koga pitamo. Svrha igraonice stoga nije prenositi 'neupitne istine' o medijima jer takve možda i ne postoje. Zato nema štrebanja! Da bismo medije 'razumjeli', treba misliti svojom glavom, a to je ono što ovom igraonicom poručujemo. Medijima prilazimo kroz igru - praktično i zabavno iskustvo koje nas može dovesti do spoznaje. Ta igra nije urnebesna igra iz vrtića u kojoj svi završimo u pijesku (iako je i ona odlična), nego igra u kojoj medije dovodimo u pitanje, podižemo obrve, prevrćemo očima i vrtimo glavom. Igraonica je namijenjena roditeljima i tinejdžerima koji su znatiželjni, sumnjičavi, otvoreni, ne uzimaju stvari zdravo za gotovo i vole provoditi vrijeme zajedno, čak i kad nisu pred televizorom. A sad, službeni dio! Medijska igraonica pripada području medijske pismenosti i njezin je cilj razvijanje vještina kritičkog pristupa medijima. Igraonica je potekla s Edukacijskorehabilitacijskog fakulteta u Zagrebu. Polazi od medijskih teorija i razumijevanja medijske pismenosti kao edukacijskog alata koji doprinosi smanjivanju ranjivosti djece i adolescenata i jačanju njihove otpornosti. How do the media affect us and the society: positively, negatively or neutrally? It depends on who you ask. The purpose of this play-room is not to transfer the 'ultimate truth' about the media as such may not exist. Therefore, no cramming! In order to 'understand' media it is necessary to think for ourselves, and that's what is emphasized within this play-room. We approach media through the play - practical and fun experience that can lead us to knowledge. It is not a hilarious play from kindergartens in which we all end up in the sand (although that s also great), but a play in which we question media, raise our eyebrows, roll our eyes and shake our head. This play-room is designed for parents and teenagers who are curious, skeptical, open, do not take things for granted and like to spend time together, even when they are not watching television. And now, the official part! Media playroom belongs to the field of media literacy and its goal is to develop critical thinking skills about the media. It is developed at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences. The starting points of media play-room are media theories and understanding of media literacy as an educational tool that contributes to reducing the vulnerability of children and adolescents and strengthening their resilience. 64

Trosatna radionica sastoji se od uvodnika, projekcije, susreta s gostima filmašima i debatne analize filma. Učenici na projekciju dolaze s već određenom predodžbom o filmu koji će gledati. Kroz aktivnosti i projekte koje učiteljice s djecom provode prema obrazovnim i metodičkim materijalima, a koje kreira stručni tim Sedmog kontinenta, utvrđuju se prethodno stečena znanja iz filmske umjetnosti i senzibilizira se učenike za temu filma. The students come to the screening with a certain idea about the movie they will see. Activities and projects are led by teachers who use educational and teaching materials developed by the Seventh Continent expert team. Kod djece se interaktivnim razgovorom pobuđuje interes za sadržaj filma. Tijekom ove faze radionice uspostavlja se kontakt s djecom, usvaja osnovna terminologija filmske umjetnosti, te preispituje što učenici već znaju o filmu koji će gledati pri čemu je važno naglasiti da je cijela struktura uvodnika povezana sa službenim Planom i programom nastave hrvatskoga jezika u osnovnoj školi. Nakon inkluzivnog uvodnika slijedi projekcija filma. Inkluzivni razgovor s filmskim profesionalcem i moderatorom traje 20 minuta. Razgovor je unaprijed osmišljen, ali njegov tijek ovisi o interesima učenika i pitanjima koja će postaviti gostu o filmu koji su gledali i filmskoj umjetnosti općenito. Inkluzivna razmjena dojmova o filmu i analiza filma traje 45 minuta. U ovoj fazi radionice strukturirano se usvaja filmski jezik te potiče argumentirana rasprava o filmu u koju su uključeni svi učenici. Tijekom analize filma učenici se osposobljavaju za doživljaj i razumijevanje filmskog djela, ovladavaju osnovnim elementima filmskog izraza te razvijaju sposobnost zapažanja, stvaralačkog mišljenja i kritički stav prema pojavama u društvu koje su tematizirane u filmu. The inclusive introduction lasts 5 10 minutes. Children s interest for the movie content is encouraged through interactive discussions. During this workshop phase, contact is established with the children, basic terminology of film art is learnt and knowledge the students have about the movie they are about to see is reviewed it is important to highlight here that the whole structure of the introduction is in accordance withthe official Croatian language curriculum for elementary schools. The inclusive introduction is followed by the film screening. The inclusive conversationwith the film professional and moderator lasts for 20 minutes. The interview is scripted in advance, but its course depends on the students interests and the questions they ask about the film they saw and the art of film in general. Inclusive sharing of film impressions and film analysis lasts for 45 minutes. This workshop phase teaches about film language in a structured way and argued debate about the movie which includes all students is encouraged.
